Have a Picnic at Heathcote Reserve

Heathcote Reserve is a perfect place for a fun bonding time with the whole family. Located in Applecross, it overlooks the Swan River and offers great views of not only the city, but also bottlenose dolphins as they swim up the Swan and Canning rivers and pursue mullet. Heathcote is also surrounded by beautifully renovated heritage buildings and landscaped gardens. 

Heathcote Reserve has a big pirate ship playground making it perfect for kids to climb on, slide, and swing around. Available facilities also include parking sports, restrooms, a water/drinking fountain, several BBQ pits, a restaurant and onsite food kiosk, and of course plenty of grass and benches for picnics and birthday celebrations beside this playground.

If you fancy a longer route, you can head over to Mount Pleasant neighborhood from Heathcote Reserve and take a 10 km out-and-back run under shaded streets lined with beautiful homes. Melville Water Riverpark Trail also offers a great urban route that features Perth's most distinctive southern shoreline reserves and parks.
